Nature, music, science – that’s what fascinates me and inspires my knitting. I learned to knit and purl as a young girl (at around the same age when I started to play cello), and at that time I clearly saw myself becoming either a music or a crafts teacher.
With time, these ideas changed and my growing interest in nature and how things work led me to a career in life sciences and science communication. But when I rediscovered my knitting needles many years later, the joy of playing with fibres and colours and exploring new techniques was back immediately. Envisaging a design, finding the ideal stitch and shaping, calculating patterns and sizes, and sharing my approach with other knitters is a most satisfying process for me. My favourite projects are accessories with interesting textures, clever constructions, unusual details and neat finishing.
